William Winfred Hamrick, Jr., 74, of Columbia, died Monday, July 27, 2015. Born in Spindale, NC he was a son of the late William W. Hamrick, Sr. and Doris Butler Hamrick. Mr. Hamrick retired from the US Army as a data processor, and then worked in civil service at Fort Jackson for 22 years. He also served as JROTC instructor at Owen High School in Swannanoa, NC. Mr. Hamrick attended the Main Post Chapel on Fort Jackson, and most recently attended Windsor United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Geraldine Vassey Hamrick; a son; grandchildren, Jessi Dee Austin and William W. Hamrick, IV; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Austin; a brother, Connie Mack Hamrick; sisters, Deanna Gustafson, Rebecca Mathney, and Peggy Jo Gibson.

A graveside service will be held at 11 o'clock, Friday, July 31st at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Bayview Baptist Church, 5300 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC 29204. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
