William Shirley Hiatt, Jr., 83, died Thursday, February 26, 2015. Member of North Trenholm Baptist Church, Woody Howle Sunday School class. Born in Tifton, GA, he was a son of the late Virginia E. and William S. Hiatt Sr.
Mr. Hiatt attended the US Naval Academy and Southern Methodist University, later receiving a Master of Business at Rollins College. He was a pioneer in the semiconductor industry, working for Texas Instruments and Motorola Semiconductor, retiring as worldwide salesman of the year. Within the family, it was known he could fix anything with a rubber band and could sell you on it! He loved to entertain with his "Bill's Dunkin' Sauce" – it is all about the sauce. His Dunkin' Sauce won first prize at the SC State Fair. As a young man, he voyaged to Europe, a midshipman, and was hooked on travel. Bill sweet talked his wife, packed a pop up trailer and toured the country from coast to coast with their four children and two dogs. Later, he again sweet talked Mona into joining him on cruises throughout the world-tough sell.
