Mr. William C. "Billy" Hutto, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Born on October 19, 1937, he was the oldest son of the late William Harold Hutto and Ella Mae Matthews Hutto.
He was extremely proud of having grown up in the Olympia Mills Village. He graduated from Olympia High School in 1957. He served in the National Guard, and he was a member of the Local 421 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.
He was married to the former Mary Annette Geiger. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, cooking, planting a garden, and eating at Lizard's Thicket. He was a successful mechanical contractor, owning several different businesses over the years. In recent years, he managed his rental properties until his health forced him to retire. He loved his neighbors and his tenants.
He is survived by his brother, Harold; his daughters, Lisa Gratton (Kevin) and Lori Sjodin; grandsons, Robbie Sjodin (Amelia), Ricky Sjodin, Kevin Michael Gratton, Jr., Ellis Matthews; granddaughters, Meredith Stetson (Rob) and Lanie Sjodin; 11 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wanda Geiger and Liz Geiger; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; his wife, Mary Annette Hutto; siblings, Margaret Currie (Ken), Ann Weiss (Randy), and Allen Hutto; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Geiger, Vic Geiger, and Tim Geiger; sisters-in-law, Celia Easler (Frank), Maxine LaMoy (Don), Geraldine Hutto and Gloria Hutto; beloved niece, Sherry Fasano ; and nephews, Quinn Geiger, Rex Bush, Steve Bush, and Kevin Currie.
The graveside service will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd., Columbia, South Carolina. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Billy at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia, SC, on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, from 12:00PM until 5:00PM, and again on Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, from 8:00AM until 2:00PM, prior to the service.
