Obituary

With family by his side, Bill Lee, 81, died April 14, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC.

An accomplished musician, Bill Lee was the founder and director of The Tellers, a Christian music singing group from 1969 to 1982. His interests included music, production projects, gardening, Bible reading, telling stories, being with people and making them laugh. He loved and celebrated Christmas almost everyday. Unfortunately, dressing up as Santa didn't fool his eldest granddaughter, Alex. At the age of three, when she greeted Santa at the door, Alex exclaimed, "Papa is Hoho!" In later years, one could find Bill working at Dillards.

Born March 14,1939, in Columbia, South Carolina to Wesley E. and Henrietta Lee, Bill's greatest source of love and pride was his family. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; four children, Randy, Melinda, Marie Hudgins and Jody; four grandchildren, Alexandria Maish, Khristina Kennedy, Jonathan Lee and Ayden Lee; two great-grandchildren, Astra and Layla Kennedy; two sisters and their spouses, Mary Ella and Dick Chambers, Betty and Pete Rabon.

Due to the present pandemic, a small memorial will be held in the Chapel at Shives Funeral Home, April 25, 2020. After the pandemic, the family hopes to hold a Celebration of Life with loved ones.

Condolences may be sent to 1606 Highway Church Road, Elgin, SC, 29045. In lieu of flowers, his children have established a Go Fund Me page to assist with all final expenses.
