Obituary

William Shuler Muckenfuss, 99, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024. Born in St. George, South Carolina on December 15, 1924, he was a son of the late St. Clair White Muckenfuss and Pritchard Shuler Muckenfuss. Mr. Muckenfuss was a US Merchant Marine veteran having proudly served during World War II. Following his service, he was the owner and operator of Bayview Gulf Service Station, a community staple, for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, reading and being with his family.

Survivors include his children, William "Jackie" Shuler Muckenfuss, Jr. and Ann Muckenfuss Sribnick (Wayne); granddaughters, Allison Sribnick and Lauren Sribnick Fell (Trent); great-granddaughter, Katherine Fell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Kathleen Crosby Muckenfuss; and his siblings, St. Clair Marshall and Rachel Muckenfuss Barnes.

The Service for Mr. Muckenfuss will be held privately. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
