Obituary

William "Bill" Clark Petty, Jr., 57, of Lexington, died June 7, 2013. Born in Columbia on December 3, 1955 he was a son of the late William Clark Petty, Sr. and Alma Wright Petty.

Bill, an electrician with Craft Equipment Company was known as a very handy kind of man. He enjoyed coaching and refereeing, and was involved with the Upward Basketball Program. A member of Red Bank Baptist Church, he served as a substitute Sunday school teacher, and very much loved his class. Bill dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Susan L. "Sue" Petty; daughter, Angela (Greg) Valeri; son, Robert Michael (Leslie) Petty; step sons, Tim (Lindsay) VanFossen, Dylan White (Brianna Jolley); grandchildren, Anthony Prenzlow, Andrew, Brandon, and Dominic Valeri, Reagan, and Lincoln VanFossen; sisters Cindi (Frank) Gruden, Sandra Sheldon; nieces, Natalie McLemore, Margrit, and Miriam Sheldon; nephews, Simon Sheldon, Bryan, Tony, and Kevin Blackmon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Blackmon.

The memorial service for Mr. Petty will be held at 12 o'clock, Friday, June 14th, at Red Bank Baptist Church, with Pastor Jimmy Walker officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 11 o'clock. Memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, 120 Community Dr., Lexington, SC 29073.
