William "Bill" Clark Petty, Jr., 57, of Lexington, died June 7, 2013. Born in Columbia on December 3, 1955 he was a son of the late William Clark Petty, Sr. and Alma Wright Petty.
Bill, an electrician with Craft Equipment Company was known as a very handy kind of man. He enjoyed coaching and refereeing, and was involved with the Upward Basketball Program. A member of Red Bank Baptist Church, he served as a substitute Sunday school teacher, and very much loved his class. Bill dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Susan L. "Sue" Petty; daughter, Angela (Greg) Valeri; son, Robert Michael (Leslie) Petty; step sons, Tim (Lindsay) VanFossen, Dylan White (Brianna Jolley); grandchildren, Anthony Prenzlow, Andrew, Brandon, and Dominic Valeri, Reagan, and Lincoln VanFossen; sisters Cindi (Frank) Gruden, Sandra Sheldon; nieces, Natalie McLemore, Margrit, and Miriam Sheldon; nephews, Simon Sheldon, Bryan, Tony, and Kevin Blackmon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Blackmon.
The memorial service for Mr. Petty will be held at 12 o'clock, Friday, June 14th, at Red Bank Baptist Church, with Pastor Jimmy Walker officiating.
