William "Bill" H. Prince, 81, of Blythewood, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.
Born in Columbia, SC, on October 10, 1943, he was the son of the late Addie Irene Huffman Prince and late Beiman Otis Prince, Sr. He was raised in Columbia with his four siblings, and was a graduate of Eau Claire High School. Mr. Bill went on to serve his country during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany. After his military service, he met and married the love of his life, Sandra "Sandy" Prince, in 1968. Their marriage was one of love, compassion, and shared memories. Mr. Bill had a passion for driving trucks and exploring the wide expanse of the country. On Saturdays, he proudly supported the Gamecocks, and on Sundays, he was a dedicated Cowboys fan. He also loved to travel, taking cruises with his wife and family to see more of the world when he had the chance. Each morning, he gathered with a group of friends at Hardee's for breakfast, where they would laugh, share stories, and celebrate one another. For over 30 years, he was an active member of Killian Baptist Church until its closure, after which he joined the Remnant Church and remained a member for the rest of his life. Mr. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, an exceptional father, and a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather. His love and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra F. Prince; two daughters, Bonnie Walker, and Kayce Prince-Harvey (Charles); a son, William Prince, Jr.; a son-in-law, Jason Walker; two sisters, Wynette Fetner (Ted), and Edythe Prince; sister-in-law, JoAnn Prince ("Bemo"); brother in-law Dale Morrison (Stanlee); seven grandchildren, Michelle Edwards, Brooke Edwards, Ashley Counts, Kendall Counts, Kaylee Counts, Dallas Prince, and Kyndall Walker; a great-grandson, Cooper Thompkins; and special friends, Sarah and Khloe Walker.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by; a sister, Stanlee Morrison (Dale); a brother, Beiman Otis "Bemo" Prince, Jr. (JoAnn), and a brother-in-law, Ted Fetner (Wynette).
A visitation will be held from 10 - 12 o'clock on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, for family and friends to gather. The funeral service for Mr. Prince will be held at 12 o'clock, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.
