A Requiem Mass will be held for William Sheppard "Winkie" Deaver, Jr., 68, at The Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal), Columbia, at ten o'clock, Monday, January 4, 2016. Burial will be held at noon at Malvern Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 1514 Malvern Hill Drive, Camden. A visitation will be Sunday, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, from four until six o'clock.
Winkie passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center after a short illness. He was a lifelong member of The Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal). An avid Gamecock fan, he was loved by all who met him and he will be sorely missed.
Winkie is survived by sisters, Barbara Shade and Emmie Sue Barnes (Bobby); sister-in-law, Thalia Deaver; cousins, Elva Buff and Romona Grant; nephews, Kenneth Deaver (Connie), Aubery Deaver (Debbie), Robert Barnes, Jr. (Jean), Michael and Pat Harvey; nieces, Luncinda Harper (Milton), Susan Kennedy and Dixie Strayler (Ken); great-nephews, William Robert Barnes and Daniel Robert Kennedy; and great-niece, Hannah Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his parents, William S. Deaver, Sr. and Artilize Lewis Deaver; brother, Lewis M. Deaver; and sister, Joe Marion Harvery.
