William "Bill" Thomas Minor, Sr., 88, of Columbia, went to his home in heaven, Tuesday, October 25, 2016. He leaves on God's earth, his wonderful wife of 64 years, Patti Celeste Edmonds Minor, who was always by his side; three children, Joan C. Cobb (Charlie), William T. "Tommy" Minor (Sandra), Virginia "Gini" L. Caywood (Butch); three grandchildren, Amanda Donner, Matthew Minor, Ashley Hummel; and four greatgrandchildren.

Bill was born January 27, 1928 in Blythewood to the late Charles Oscar and Arnita Wooten Minor and was raised in McRae, GA. Moving to Folly Beach as a teenager, he graduated from Charleston High School. After graduating high school, he served in the US Air Force as a sergeant and was a WWII veteran. Bill retired after 36 years in the trucking industry. His top position was Southeastern Maintenance Supervisor. A true Teamster Union member, he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #377. His family, as well as many of the community members, will always miss him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles F. Minor.
A funeral service will be held 3 o'clock, Saturday, October 29th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with the Rev. Jonathan Ruth officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 2 o'clock. Interment will be 12 o'clock, Monday, October 31st at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Butler, Ashley, Ann, Dusty and the staff on 11 East Oncology at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital for the wonderful care they gave.
