Obituary

William "Ross" Turner, Sr., age 96, of Lugoff, South Carolina, left this life for his Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 29, 2018. He was born October 28, 1922 in Edgefield, South Carolina, to the late Edgar Frank Turner and Mary Ethel Clinton Turner.

Ross entered service to his country on February 17, 1943 and was a Seaman First Class of the United States Navy, receiving an Honorable Discharge on January 19, 1946. Ross served in NTS, Bainbridge, MD, AGS, Little Creek, VA, AOC, Brooklyn, NY on the SS Marion Crawford and SS Hadley F. Brown, and received medals which include American Area, Victory World War II, and European African.

He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina, where he served his Lord and enjoyed fellowship with his fellow brothers in Christ. Ross retired from Loxscreen Company in West Columbia. He enjoyed the outdoors and doing carpentry work. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
The most important moment in his life was when he came to the place in life that he realized he was a sinner and in need of a Saviour. Realizing Jesus Christ died, was buried and rose again for his sins, he repented of his sins and called upon the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive him of his sins, come into his life and save his soul. This decision forever changed his life. He is in Heaven today enjoying total everlasting peace with his Saviour, only as a result of receiving this free precious gift of eternal life from the Lord Jesus Christ. This free precious gift is available to anyone who believes.

Surviving family members include his wife of 68 years, Sadie Vondilee Palmer Turner; son, William Ross Turner, Jr; daughter, Kimberly Irene Turner Hinkle and her husband, Steve; daughter-in-law, Dena Turner; five grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

Ross was preceded in death by his loving son, John Marshall Turner; his mother and father; brothers, Edgar Turner, Raymond Turner, Gerald Turner, Neil Turner; and sisters, Bernice Turner LaMoy, Mary Elizabeth Turner Easler and Catherine Turner Jones.

The funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, January 4th, at Anchor Baptist Church, with Pastor Rick Kirchinger and Rev. Dennis Letts officiating.
